High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. Friendly server. Very slow service all around though. She didn't have a good handle on her 5 tables which I can understand but my experience was poor. Food was all brought out at once instead of appetizers first. The apps had obviously sat under a heat lamp for quite some time. Food was average for the family restaurant standard. I won't be excited to return but will again due to convenient location.

Ugh. You hope when you go to a chain restaurant that you'll get at least their standard good service. The restaurant was dead. There were two girls seated at booth two from the door and one person at the bar when we got here. We were having a later lunch so we didn't expect it to be packed by any means and to be honest this location is a little weird to get to. The hostess walked as far as the first booth to seat us. No biggie but it seemed like she didn't want to go too far. Our waiter, Matt M greeted us as if he'd just had a death in the family. I really hope he was ok, but he was less than happy about being there for sure. We noticed the two women at booth two seemed to get the friendly server. I think his name may have been Chuck, he was pleasant and answered a lot of questions for them. Matt took our drink order and came back with our chips and salsa and bevvies. We needed a couple more minutes to peruse the menu which he gave us. We all ordered from the lunch combo menu. I think they may have had to call in a cook, it took that long for our order. THe food looked good when it arrived and actually wasn't too bad. Way too much dressing on my Thai Shrimp salad, same as the wedge and the chicken Caesar. Matt never checked on us once after the food arrived. Thank God for the option to pay your bill at the table or we still might be there. Skip this chain next time. Thankfully there are many other restaurants nearby!

OK, Ill just walk you through our night and let you make your own evaluation. My one star tells you what I think. We have been here MANY times, and its never good. This time was awful though. We arrived later in the evening, about 8:00. We asked to sit in the bar area and took a seat outside the bar but in the confines of the "bar area." We sat for what seemed like eternity before being greeted by a server who walked quickly by us and said, "sorry, Ill be right with you." Of course this was already ten minutes in, and it was ten minutes till he was right with us. He did eventually get "right with us" and we ordered drinks. Those drinks would not get right with us for a long time. The server brought waters and took our order, I ordered riblets and fries and my wife ordered some chicken dish and broccoli, well steamed. We got our drinks about 5 minutes after we ordered. Then we had food appear at our table. UM, it wasnt ours, we let them know delicately. As we were enjoying our beverages, food arrived at our table again... Again, it wasnt ours. Do these people have any clue what they are doing? Minutes turned to hours and hours to decades when we finally received our food. Remember that well steamed broccoli? It was cold. My riblets? Wrong sauce and not sure if there was really any on it. Let dig in though shall we????..... NOPE, no silver ware. Easy enough, we told our server we sure could use utensils and he was happy to oblige.... ok not really, he said he would get some, but after watching him talk to two other tables after leaving us, I got up and got silverware off another table so that we could eat. So now here we were eating our cold, sauceless food for a while, but now we were out of drinks. Our astute server came by and asked if we would like more. We said yes and he disappeared off to the wild to brew our beers from scratch as though he knew it would take forever. Ten minutes later, we could see our order sitting on the printer at the bar just waiting to be filled as the bartender was doing dishes, sending texts, writing a novel and all other things that making drinks. My wife actually got up and asked the bartender if he could make the drinks that were on his printer so that we may get ours. He seemed mad we interrupted his routine. Now that we are 470 hours into our meal, our server finally brought our drinks that we ordered, and waited for and asked the bartender to make finally. At the same time he was delivering our drinks, I picked up a bite of food that had a nice hair in it.... He asked, "Is everything ok?".... Actually no it isnt at all... My wife complained about her cold hard broccoli and asked for mashed potatoes instead. I stayed quiet.... 1minute later 5 minutes later 10 minutes later OK ENOUGH! Manger, time to get involved. Food sucks, service sucks, hair in food, slow service, cold food.... still havent gotten mash potatoes, I can name the issue....... Manager was as polite, and understanding as could be. Comped the meal and drinks. She was great. She is new to this restaurant. I am not sure I can ever go back though. Ive had it up to my ears with this place. If I have to go one way, avoid this place.

Ordered online for carside pickup tonight and I was extremely disappointed. I sat in the parking lot for 10 minutes before I was brought someone else's order, no big deal, mistakes happen. I get home and neither of the quesadilla burgers I ordered had bacon, pico, or mexi-ranch sauce on them. I was served 2 $10 pieces of meat with lettuce and cheese on a tortilla. We subbed sweet potato fries for an extra dollar with one of the burgers, and for our dollar we received roughly 10 sweet potato fries. I don't think we'll be going to this Applebee's again.

Been here several times! Thai shrimp salad is amazing! I get it without the wonton strips and almond slices, so I'm sure it's even better with them! French onion soup!! Better than Red Robins!! I get it without the slice of bread they put in the bowl, and without the cheese on top! I've tasted the blonde brownie and the pretzel bites, and chocolate dessert shooter. All were good, just dangerous! ;)

We went for dinner on Sunday evening, and none of the four of us were in a particularly good mood. That might have influenced our server - service was particularly lackluster on this evening. We had to ask for my water to be brought to the table many minutes after everybody else got their drinks and the food order had been taken. But the salad I had. Wow, it was GOOD! I ordered the spinach salad with grilled shrimp, bacon bits and hot bacon dressing. Now perhaps I'm just not ready to admit that bacon makes everything better, but damn, that was one delicious salad! I think I've found a new favorite!

Typical Applebees experience. We sat at the bar and I will admit our Waiter was a bit slow with everything honestly, greeting us, serving us drinks, refills, food... However he was personable and that makes up for the slow service as well as the great company I was with. Food was solid. I think I will order the Smokehouse Club the next time, that was really tasty. Good chain restaurant with relatively consistent food.

I'll admit, I don't visit Applebee's much. I love new places, I tend to avoid chain restaurants, so Applebee's doesn't often come up when we're picking a place to eat. But with a location near us, sometimes you end up there. Sometimes you just want something quick, easy, comfortable and reliable. That's Applebees to me. The irony is that whenever we go, the food is good, the staff is great, and the bar is super fun. It's almost always busy at our local Castle Rock Applebees. It feels as though it's a real local hangout. And I can get why - because everyone is so friendly. We usually aim for the bar where you get free chips & salsa. The beers are good and cheap, and the food is always pretty good. My favorites are the burgers and the Chicken Fajita Rollup sandwich. I love that I can not visit Applebees for years, but when I come back that Chicken Rollup is just as good as ever. Last time we visited they had live trivia, and it was a blast. I guess I need to rethink Applebees, and maybe quit being such a food snob and visit more. I don't know that I'll ever be a regular, but I am happy that the 'Bee is there for me when I need them to be.

Super impressed with the revamp. Been here before and it was meh. Now the new menu and new staff are a refreshing sight to see. We will definitely be putting this in the regular rotation now! If you've been before and not impressed, give it another chance!

Had to ask for our drinks, 15 minutes after the appetizer came. Waiter took a glass to refill and it never came back at all. Food came an hour after ordering and my order went missing. I had time to create a yelp account and leave this review while watching my family eat. Food never came. Waited 20 minutes for the check after asking. Manager never came after I asked to speak to him. Go elsewhere.

I feel as if Applebees is going as did Bennigans. They constantly are changing their menu, or are trying to appeal to one end of the customers or the other. I ordered some new chicken corn southwest thing. My partner ordered a Philly Burger, and we split an appetizer. 1st- the appetizer was made by someone who clearly smokes pot. It was meatballs, marinara sauce, and fried cheese "scoops". The cheese was good, the meatball was ehh, but why are they together?!?! Didnt make much sense 2nd-My meal was fairly good, its hard to mess up chicken. It was covered with bacon and cheese, served on corn pancakes. and came with a cheese corn stew of sorts. I loved the cheese corn stew, and the chicken. Only issue were those corn pancakes. They were all mushy from soaking up chicken juice and bbq sauce. My partners meal was strange and hard to eat. It was hoagie sized and shaped, and all the peppers and onions kept escaping the ends and sides of the bun. Eventually he ate it with a fork. We skipped dessert. Once again someone previous stated very hit or miss. The day we went, fairly slow day, but very short staffed/confused staff. Greeter was bussing tables, we had 3 people trying to help us, waiter would disappear for 20-30 minutes. Odd. Nothing super wrong here, we will probably go again, but it will probably be our last choice or if there is one of those pick 2 specials.

Service was bad - luckily they have the iPad things Food was just glorified fast food. Very small portions. I haven't been to an Applebee's in a long time. Probably will never go again after this experience.

The worst absolutely WORST false advertising ever and the photos on the menu are 100 untruthful. We would have complained to the manager but we were graciously treated to dinner and did not want to be rude. Sat, Mar 21, 2015, my husband and I ordered the Kobe beef meatballs and the nachos. Both small plates were ZERO in appearance and worse in taste. Who in Cr can mess up a Mexican dish? I now know Applebee's can. One star because of the kind wait person. Really - the worst eating out experience since we have lived in CR - never never never again.

  • Cassidy L.

Tonight the service was absolutely horrible. We arrived a little after 9 so there weren't many people in the restaurant. Meaning: we should have fast service, right? Well, this wasn't the case. Our waitress was seen standing around (talking and hanging out with other staff) multiple times when we needed a refill or had an issue with our food - we practically had to flag her over. I ordered the boneless wings and they first came out with the wrong sauce - not a big deal, mistakes happen and she told us she would have new ones made. She didn't, however, tell us we would be paying for both sets of wings. So the table split the wings that originally came out while we waited for the correct ones to come out. When the bill comes around (at this point our waitress is no where to be seen) I see we have been charged for two sets of wings. Another girl, who isn't our waitress, comes to check if we know how to use the pay machine. I point out the wing issue to her so she gets the manager. The manager then tells me I technically ate the incorrect wings so I need to pay for them. Really? I need to pay for a mistake that isn't my fault? Fine. But know I will never be returning to an Applebee's ever again. And from the looks of it, many people are noticing how much the customer service is lacking. We could also here the manager and the waitress saying so not-so-nice things about us on our way out.

Minus one star for incorrectly adding an unwanted and unlisted smear of a mayo-based dressing to my sandwich, minus another for letting me sit in my vehicle at the Curbside2Go location as my food warmed under the lamps inside (I called. Them: "Oh, we don't have anyone to bring them outside." The food was a bit soggy from the wait. Finally, minus another star because I had to drive back down to get my order corrected. Rocket science it's not, but stop it with the mayo (you nasties, you). Update: The manager called and made attempts to make things right. I respect that. One star added.

This place is wonderful for the community. We just finished a fundraiser breakfast there for the Douglas County High School Inline Hockey team where they serve all you can eat pancakes and sausage with free coffee and orange juice for $7/person! The food is even served by the kids on the hockey team. I know they do this for at least 3 other various high school sports teams, maybe more.

It's a huge national bar/restaurant chain. I knew the food would be mediocre. My salad came missing and ingredient...but was decent regardless. The service was decent and they have lots of TVs in the bar area to watch football on. All in all...it was just average. The greeter at the door was suuuuper nice. I will say that.

Love the pics of local school sports teams, including the band! Yea! I think they took out some fun things that used to be on the walls, but oh well. The cajun seafood pasta was so yummy. Their fries are good. The mozzarella sticks are good. The spinach artichoke dip is fantastic -- "Don't let the take that yet, there's at least 1/2 a dip left!" Refills. Pepsi.

I have lived just a few doors away from this Apple Bee's location for over 12 years. In the beginning the entire neighborhood frequented this location as a weekly tradition. The people were kind, the food great and the prices extremely affordable. Since the new ownership of the 2nd largest Apple Bee's franchise owners this Castle Rock location has dramatically lost most of its following & home town appeal, the drink prices have escalated through the roof and happy hour along with drink specials are all but extinct. Their friendly staff can't make up for some of these things preventing most of us from returning. Used to be you couldn't find a place to park. Now you have all the parking you want as long as you can afford it! 8-/ All of us locals are simply waiting till they change owners or lock up the doors for the next business to come along and once again support our local community. By the way there is a competitor 3 minutes away many of us have reverted to until things return to normal.

Hadn't been to an Applebees in years, but received a gift card and went to Yelp to search for reviews of Applebees in Colorado Springs where we live. Turns out the best reviews were for an Applebees 30 minutes away from our home in Castle Rock, Colorado. We decided to give it a try and are we glad we did. We had 3 appetizers, drinks and dessert and all were excellent! The restaurant was very clean. You could tell the manager took pride in his restaurant . We were greeted when we arrived and our server, Paul, was wonderful. He was not only friendly and outgoing, but he also assisted us with our order and was very attentive to us during our meal. The food was truly great and so was the presentation. We will definitely go back to the Applebees in Castle Rock again soon.

This place is kind of hit or miss. I always order the same things when I go to Applebee's so I'm one of those people that notices when a location doesn't make something right. Generally I don't point it out to the staff, but I do take mental note of it. Portions always seem smaller here then other locations I've been to, and not necessarily very well made. The staff is usually pretty good though so that's always a plus!

Best smelling bathrooms!! It's a reason alone to go back alone. The food was the Applebee's quality that everyone either loves or doesn't. Quick and friendly service. Went at the lunch hour rush and it really wasnt bad. Manager could always be seen which was another plus. Had a great experience.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
